So old that the floor has become a foreign country. Eternal optimist, one day we will discover a cure for religion. Politically on an arc between Karl and Groucho.

The Second Coming

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

A short poem, dedicated to all users of mobility scooters.

Fear not!
For the Prophet of the Pavement is nigh!
Verily I shall come amongst thee.
In these days I shall come to pass.
Until curbed by kerbs,
I shall come to an ‘alt.

These have arrived! - the finished, hardback copies of a little book I've written about the joyfully unpredictable experience of producing Father Ted.
Publication is Feb 20th but I'd like to give away two copies early - RT by Saturday 6pm and my dog Watson will pick the winners.

Dear BBC, I read your report on a new battery facility at Coalburn. Very interesting. A shame that your reporter is scientifically illiterate. The ENERGY stored in batteries is measured in kWh, not kW.

Err, I realise I have been wrong for ever. I foolishly thought that the phrase was ‘sucking up to’ but clearly it is actually ‘zucking up to’. Thank you Mark!

Oh dear Elon, may I point out that kekius maximus is loosely British for “Biggest Shit”.

Oh my, just had the emergency weather warning on my phone. Come to sunny Devon they said, blue skies and happy families playing on the beaches.
I wouldn't mind so much but two weeks ago we had lots of solar panels put up on our roof. Fingers crossed they are still there by tomorrow evening.

One for gastro bluesky. Why have anchovies lost their flavour? The silvery ones these days seem very bland compared to the darker ones from the tins of old. Talking of old, I am so its possible that anchovies remain the same and its me that has changed.

Err, just wondering if anyone else feels guilty about still resorting to twitter. Trying to break free but it is a strong addiction.

Hmm, I do like this idea of people curating helpful lists of people to follow on here. Very civilised and mitigates some of the disruption of leaving t'other place.

6: Is anybody still reading this drivel? Can you actually win prizes for masochism? Why are rhetorical questions so irritating?

5: I do have a superpower though. The one thing I am really truly good at. It is self-depreciation. Plus I will have the sweetest satisfaction of 'I told you so' when the AMOC stops. Google it if you have to, cheerful reading before bedtime.

4: So, what can I contribute to social media? So far I have identified the following ways of saying: nothing, nowt, zip, zilch, buggerall, sweet fanny adams. Perhaps, just perhaps a teensy weensy bit of humour? Nope, almost certainly not.

3: Now very retired and reaping the benefits of 50 years of smoking. Oh yes, and some bits of boiler asbestos in awkward places. Still, from the neck up it's not too bad. Well apart from the deafness and failing eyesight. Hey, on the upside North Devon NHS really rocks!

2: Education started at 20. By 30 reached PhD (failed) level. Dipped toes into world of work, boiler cleaning to be precise. Rose to dizzy heights in my chosen milieu. On retiring at 63 I was running my own boiler cleaning company. Hey, its a dirty job but someone's etc..

1: Hmm, follower count appears to be static, so perhaps you need more info about me before committing! OK, we'll give it a whirl. West country heritage in and around Bristol. Secondary school was 5 years of mutual loathing.

As I have now reached the dizzy heights of 3 followers an introduction is called for. Old lefty Brit who loves science and politics. Trying to be green-ish, electric car and soon solar pv. Typical baby boomer - sorry. Worried as hell about global warming, Trump, Farage and their ilk.
