Interior of a fairly large, well-lit spaceship hangar. The entire thing is made of shiny white interior walls, and large airtight hangar doors as well as a refueling connector can be seen at the back.

And no I didn't just uncritically trust the wiki. I made damn sure to check that the game worked as I thought it does. (It does. Spread is how many degrees randomly get added in any direction, which is only half the angle of the cone.)

Tried making a large-grid warship. This is literally the smallest possible design I could come up with. It has only one single weapon, and is over twice the weight of my small-grid warship with way, way more armament, and has the same delta-V and twice the fuel usage.
Dolly's attempt at a large-grid warship. It's literally the absolute minimal setup of cockpit, gyro and thrusters strapped to one single rocket launcher and a docking connector. It is gargantuan despite being composed of only 22 parts.

This is what I have to deal with.

(The numerical stats on this thing are genuinely fucking good.)

No armor, no external support structure, just cockpit, drills, cargo, fuel tank, engines, all directly connected together with as few conveyor pieces as possible. The reverse thruster is awkwardly mounted on a curved conveyor, sending the flame directly towards the cockpit. A sorter-ejector setup is crudely welded onto the back.

You know what it's fucking ugly but I tested it and it works.

The rear of the ship is only slightly less of a mess, with six large thrusters mounted in the most utilitarian way possible. It looks like it would only just barely fit through the hole it might dig.

I figured if I'm gonna ride a space bike, it really should look the part.

Also gave my WIP sniper ship the same treatment to see how that looks.
A much smaller warship, painted in the same black color scheme, with far fewer exposed yellow conveyor ports. It still has a massive engine for its tiny size, and a single very long assault cannon mounted to the side. The rest of the ship is the same size as its cockpit.

Amazingly, I was able to repair this thing enough to be able to fly it on its own power! All my worries about how I am supposed to tow it are over!
Dolly is flying the big privateer ship from yesterday. Smoke is billowing out from multiple places.

Just for context, here's the ship I captured (blue), and my own ship that I captured it with (purple).

I think I deserve to be really damn proud of myself for this!!
Two warships floating next to eachother, in low Earth orbit. Dolly's light warship, painted purple, has no armor at all and is extremely tiny even by small grid fighter standards. The big blue privateer ship is a large grid ship and is well over four times its length. A single one of its guns is over half the size of Dolly's ship.

I uh..... I stole this. It kept destroying my ship, so I jumped out and dodged its fire with the spacesuit jetpack, tore open the hull, and disabled its AI controls. I can't fucking believe this gigantic thing is mine now. What do I even do with this????
