Hi, I'm Chris Plimmer, I make stop motion characters and animations in the stop motion industry and I'm going to be sharing some insights on how I use armatures in my claymation animations. Claymation is a variation of stop motion that uses clay. Much like other forms of stop motion the animator needs to move the clay character and have it hold its pose as you animate it.

During a recent trial of using stop motion animation in an English lesson with our special needs students, the HUE HD Pro camera proved to be a resounding success. This novel approach, offering a fresh and highly engaging alternative to traditional learning methods, captivated the students from the outset. The hands-on nature of creating characters, using simple set designs, and meticulously moving objects for each frame fostered a deep level of engagement.

The show takes place on Wednesday 12th November 2025 in Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, UK.  Running between the 9-13th November 2025, Manchester Animation Festival is the UK’s biggest celebration of the animated art form and it is also an Oscar®-qualifying, BAFTA-recognised film festival.
