The Trump administration has effectively rendered the Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) defunct by terminating the memberships of all its members. While the committee remains technically in existence, it no longer has members to carry out its work, which includes aviation safety.

The ongoing air traffic controller shortage in the U.S. is significantly affecting flight schedules. Airlines are reducing flights to mitigate delays and cancellations caused by overburdened ATC systems.

The shortage of air traffic controllers in the U.S. is significantly impacting aviation safety. Overworked controllers, often working six-day weeks, are experiencing burnout, which has contributed to an increased safety incidents. Since May 2024, the FAA has recorded 1,115 runway incursions.
