Got a bit damp at Leeds Pride on Sunday, but a good day talking to people about ending transphobia and ending capitalism, the new left party we need, and how to get involved in Huddersfield Alternative Pride!
In 1981 London Pride moved to Huddersfield, the first nationwide Pride outside London. This wasn't a corporate party, but a political protest against cruel repression of LGBTQ+ people in our town.

This year’s theme is fighting the far right
Reactionary ideas, including queer- and transphobia are being peddled by right wing parties like Reform and odious people like Trump
However, when we, the majority, push back against these ideas, they can be defeated!

Had a great stall at Kirklees Pride today. Thanks to everyone who came along including helpers from PACE Kirklees , it was great to see you. Met lots of people who were interested in coming to Alternative Pride, it's going to be good!

Last Saturday a man was attacked, punched and kicked by homophobic thugs in a pub near Holmfirth. This violence is fuelled by the rhetoric of far-right politicians and journalists. LGBTQ+ people are in the crosshairs of the right’s culture war. But they can be pushed back.
