Lunch in Morioka didn't disappoint. I searched 'restaurants' and saw this was close (about a 10 min walk). Rewarded with this meal which cost less than $20. The sherbet was a pleasant surprise...

BTW, you're safer with cash (yen) than w/ credit cards there. Some places are cash only, so be prepared. It's easy to get yen. Use an ATM (convenience store/7-Eleven) or an exchange kiosk once you're outside the airport. Have a coin bag/purse for all the loosies...

I got a rental car, only because public transport didn't run to the work site. Meet the Honda N-Box. I drove so little, the fuel guage never moved. Total cost for 3 days about $160...
