Good! I’ve always thought it odd that book covers are littered with blurbs.
Simon & Schuster's flagship imprint is going to get rid of those little quotes from other authors on the back and front. I'm torn, having been a bookseller, a book reviewer and having been asked to write many blurbs. I'm also on holiday so I can't columnise on it, so here's a 🧵 instead.
Why Simon & Schuster’s Flagship Imprint Won’t Require Blurbs Anymore
In a decision some might call “stunning” or a “tour-de-force,” new S&S publisher Sean Manning has decided to no longer require authors to obtain blurbs for their books. Here’s why.

Just saw that the Village People will perform at next week’s inauguration.

Talk about betraying your fan base for a few $$ and a few moments of relevance.

Calling my grammar nerds: I saw these instructions on a laundry box:

“For laundry use only. Use with detergent.”

I know the second “use” is a verb. Would the first “use” be a verb too? A noun? A gerund? Object of a preposition?

No wonder I can’t get the laundry done.
