This morning as I’m preparing for my talk on wildfire recovery in the US, I received a text from Portugal. Forest fires, three times larger than the LA fires are burning the area of Coimbra close to where I just visited. My hearts are with everyone who has to flee for safety! #disaster

This bag of trash is in my thoughts today. It’s mostly unusable plastics whose ancestor is fossil fuel. They now go to the waste system, partly into the streams, rivers, lakes, eventually end up in the ocean.
