I’d agree with that, and it’s a story thats been told before in a better way. The choices felt meaningful though, and that’s a huge part of the appeal for me.

I think the sentiment is good, but if it’s just ignored then there is no point at all other than making people feel more important - like you said. People should have more direct say in politics but this isn’t it.

I would like to know if anything has ever happened because of these petitions as I can’t think of a single instance.

That’s all it is, there’s just not enough interest in state schools. I was lucky enough to get to play in my school team. It’s a hard sell as it is compared to football when all you need is a ball for a kick around. More stuff like Kwik Cricket would be a good idea. Let kids play it more.

You also need the interest from young people to begin with. That period in the mid 2000’s when test matches were on Channel 4 was brilliant. Unless you have enough money to shell out for pay TV, then the best you have is highlights.

To me it shouts that no one likes much of their original content. Warner Bros/Discovery content will bolster their selection by quite a bit.
