I am screwing up my kids' sense of time. I've been sitting outside our youngest's room waiting for her to fall asleep. I told her I'd come back and check on her in 10 minutes, about 30 minutes ago, I think. I just wait until she asks "how much longer?" And say a number less than the previous answer.
