We got a bunch of slugs in our flower beds this year. Far more than usual! Then at an estate sale I found the abandoned jug of slug killer left by our recently deceased neighbor. A reign of slug terror finally ceased.

And if you go to a vocational or tech school in the states, you also won't take Gen Eds. But there is a lot of value in Gen Eds, even if that value was not apparent to you. But they're not there to waste time and money.

You're describing the pedagogy of a liberal arts school. You could have sought your education at a technical institute or else where, but this is the shape of a liberal arts education, which you paid for.
