My favourite pet deck is these two dorks and it's entirely focussed on turning rocks into mana rocks. Throwing a pair of rocks at your own Leyline Tyrant to do several dozen damage to an opponent is optional, but very fun

Because my choir was performing Carmina Burana, I went and used the original manuscript to make a new translation of all the texts in the piece, including footnotes..... It's also what convinced me to go back to school this fall for Classics so I can do mediaeval studies

I've been working on a translation of the original manuscript version of the Carmina Burana texts (i.e., the passages from the Codex Buranus which were used by Orff for his suite) and I just finished the last of the passages yesterday and thought I'd share a little taste of it.

(6/n) The language is unfamiliar, and some of the details are different, but even after 800 years, the people who wrote it are still so recognisably just like you and I. There's this picture on one of the pages, and if I didn't know where it was from, I would believe it was drawn yesterday.

I've been spending so much time with this manuscript the past few weeks..... It's making me wish I could explain to people that I find so compelling about things like this. It's not just that it's old and that's impressive, or that it's beautiful; it's that it's so....familiar in its humanity.

We're doing Orff's Carmina Burana in my choir this autumn, and I've been recruited to help resolve discrepancies between lyrics in different editions of the score. I've primarily been asked because I can read the medieval manuscript and have the fucks to give to actually look the stuff up 😅
