@edwardluce.bsky.social in FT is spot on. Combine his analysis with the revised job data from the BLS today and it becomes easier to understand why Bidenomics failed so spectacularly. European elites still wiggling in the grip of the Third Way should pay notice. The rest of us may be doomed.

After days of discussing European dependency at #EISA2025 with @dorobohle.bsky.social & @thunen.bsky.social, I laughed seeing this line: “Europeans have a sense of optimism only about the past, stuck in their mausoleum economy because they are too sniffy to embrace American or Chinese practices.”

After days of discussing European dependency at #EISA2025 with @dorobohle.bsky.social & @thunen.bsky.social, I laughed seeing this line: “Europeans have a sense of optimism only about the past, stuck in their mausoleum economy because they are too sniffy to embrace American or Chinese practices.”
Perhaps the text should be: “Thanks to the efforts of international organizations, Bosnia and Herzegovina remains a country deeply divided …”

Authoritarianism is very hard to defeat. And it is virtually impossible if the opposition is focused on defense of its own privileges, thus accommodating those who are in power.

Watching these official declarations of support, it is so apparent that Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism are two sides of the same coin. And they have always have been so in Europeans’ dealings with their internal others, esp when projected onto the territories of the biblical land.

Looking at Europe from its edges, everything points at war on multiple fronts. Attempts to contain it, with enormous sacrifices of peripheral lives, may only expand the scope of the violence that comes next.
