Adam and Eve sin. Sin becomes human condition. Sin brings death. God will not purge the world of sin yet b/c to do so He would have to destroy the world again. Jesus is the means by which sin can be purged in individuals in the meantime.

Death is brought about by humankind's sin, not by God.

The Epstein Files reflect one of his core motivations: Fear of being found out and exposed.

If the world saw the full proof of his worst, most vile doings, he'd be finished.

As long as people don't forget the files, he'll be afraid, as he should be.

That's why we won't shut up about the files.

(Quick clarification: By no longer needed, I mean that such indentured servitude is no longer a necessity in a society where money is often readily available in exchange for groceries and shelter. Forced labor was never needed for any just cause.)
December 16, 2025 at 7:26 PM
That said, I am not advocating for a return of slavery. It is no longer needed, nor good. Forced labor runs against Christ's teachings, hard stop.
December 16, 2025 at 7:10 PM
That said, it is still important to understand that what we call employment now was understood to be a form of mutually beneficial (and temporary) servitude way back in the day, when food and shelter were arguably more important than monetary wages.
December 16, 2025 at 7:09 PM
That said, what we understand as slavery nowadays (or more recently, human trafficking) is of the latter, one sided, forced labor arrangement.

I think that with the enlightenment and recent examples of horrific forced labor, we have very rightfully begun to shun the practice of owning other people.
December 16, 2025 at 7:05 PM
However, you still had slavery existing in terms of the grueling forced labor outside of the spirit of Hebraic law, such as slavery in Egypt or menials throughout the Roman Empire. (Or for a more modern example: the Atlantic Slave Trade.)
December 16, 2025 at 7:00 PM
It varied quite a bit back in Jesus' time. In Mosiac law, the intent behind slavery laws was not subjugation for forced labor, but rather a form of employment, e.g: Employment for those without the means to survive on their own, who are willing to work in exchange for food and shelter.

With some reflection and understanding of Jesus' teachings, one would reach the conclusion that “do not enslave others” falls into the former category, under the umbrella of “do love others”.

(That was very long, I'm done now. Have a good day!)
December 16, 2025 at 5:49 PM
To summarize: Love thy neighbor is a comprehensive command that boils down a bunch of those “do nots” into one “do”, something that is far easier to comprehend with minimal chance for legalistic behaviors to take hold.
December 16, 2025 at 5:48 PM
If he gave a comprehensive list of all evil deeds, following Christ would inevitably devolve into a legalistic system of “holier than thou” and conceit. (Something that many self-professed Christians have adopted without the encouragement of such a list)
December 16, 2025 at 5:48 PM
So He condensed it to two main commands: Love the Lord, and love thy neighbor IAW His teachings.

Oppressing people and forcing them to work against their will ≠ Love thy neighbor. It already contradicts His example of love through sacrifice, so it doesn’t necessarily need to be said explicitly.

legalistic system of hundreds of religious laws enforced zealously by the authorities. This old system was excluding many of the common folk from having a relationship with God. (Imagine trying to live by hundreds of laws day and night as a peasant who struggles to read and write)
December 16, 2025 at 5:46 PM
He also shows many examples of how to serve and sacrifice. Not concepts compatible with subjugation.

I also cannot imagine that listing every bad thing that we should not do would have been very effective. Keep in mind that one of His purposes was to make God more accessible by moving away from the

If I may, I get the feeling you will stand by what you believe, but if I can interject:

Slavery is incompatible with Christ's teachings on how to live. He tells us to serve one another, to love one another, have compassion, to understand justice, do onto others what they would do onto you, etc. 🧵

I do believe that it is important that the 2A remain, and I'm not going to say that keeping a handgun locked up in case the worst happens is a bad idea.

But stricter regulations regarding the sale of/who is eligible to obtain guns more capable than basic handguns/hunting longarms are long overdue.

There also needs to be a serious effort to dismantle the myth that there is some boogeyman out there who will destroy all you hold dear if you don't have free access to firearms for defense.

A lot of these vocal pro 2A folks are driven by such a fear generated by the NRA and related interests.

This is pretty much my stance. Murder is murder, and to celebrate this while mourning Melissa & Mark Hortman is to be a hyprocrite of the umpteenth degree.

But Charlie Kirk is not to be revered in my eyes. His rhetoric clearly identified him as a mouthpiece of the far right, not some hero.
