I'd recommend Hollow Knight first. Not because of story progression, but more because of HK easing you into combat a lot better. Sill song is amazing, but it's definitely tougher.

It's huge. At one point, curiosity got the better of me when I had opened so many areas, I wanted to know how big the map was. Looked online, and at the time I was only half way. I'm very impressed/satisfied.
