After an appeal from my publisher, Balatro has been reclassified by PEGI from 18+ to 12+
This is a good step from PEGI - bringing nuance to their ratings criteria that used to be 18+ or nothing. I hope this change will allow developers to create without being unfairly punished

Am I a fuddy-duddy for sometimes telling my players that skill checks cannot be crit and a natural 20 is merely their skill + 20, a roll of 30 not beating a DC I set of, like 45?

A big reason for this is that even though fighting games have many splinter communities that aren't really integrated with the other branches of the community, we all come together under one roof and discuss games together and teach everyone the game we play, leading to high shared knowledge.

If you're a fan of fantasy there's very little excuse to not read Discworld. Pick up Small Gods, Mort, even Guards, Guards! and I can guarantee you a good time. The audiobooks are being redone and both reads are splendid (though the old ones have some quality issues).

I don't think enough people are noticing or praising Path of Exile's devs - Grinding Gear Games - and their commitment to microtransactions transferring between PoE1 and 2. They're eating Blizzard's lunch in at least this regard, but no one seems to be saying much about it.
