Dissecting the tactics Fox News uses to lie to their viewers
Conclusion: Sean Hannity doesn't give a damn about "reserving judgement before the facts are in". This is simply the only thing left to say when the videos show such blatant misconduct, that there is no way to analyze the video while still defending the statements of Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller
January 28, 2026 at 4:08 AM
Here's the kicker. In the SAME episode as the first clip, after covering Alex Pretti's death:

"If I could get away from a confrontation ... I would turn and run rather than ever have to pull out a weapon"

So much for "not rushing to judgement". And of course his "judgement" is just a complete lie
January 28, 2026 at 3:57 AM
Then he did a segment dedicated to the notion that law enforcement is regularly being attacked by citizens using their car as a weapon

Surely he wasn't attempting to communicate to his viewers that Renee Good was using her car as a weapon? That would be irresponsible without "having all the facts"!
January 28, 2026 at 3:57 AM
Here's Hannity covering the death of Renee Good:

"Obviously they're refusing to comply with federal officials, runs into the agent, accelerates into the ICE agent a few feet away"

And then he mocks Tim Walz for suggesting that Renee Good did not intend to murder an ICE agent
January 28, 2026 at 3:57 AM
Absolutely heinous behavior from Jesse Watters and Fox News per usual. Nobody on "their side" can ever do any wrong
January 27, 2026 at 7:38 AM
Step 4: Keep your viewers focused away from questions of misconduct, and focus on the notion that Pretti brought this on himself with bad decision making:

"These are the types of things that happen ... when you bring a loaded gun to a dangerous immigration raid, confront agents, and resist arrest"
January 27, 2026 at 7:38 AM
Step 3: Make it sound like the situation was extremely tense and dangerous for the officers.

When an unambiguous fact is inconvenient to your narrative, use noncommittal language:

"One video is believed to show an agent removing Alex Pretti's weapon before the shooting, but it's still unclear."
January 27, 2026 at 7:38 AM
Step 2: Paint every decision made by Pretti as unwise:

- Claim he "approached the agents" with a loaded weapon
- Point out he wasn't carrying ID
- Suggest he didn't alert the agents of his weapon (not legally required in MN)
- Emphasize "Resisting arrest with a loaded weapon is extremely dangerous"
January 27, 2026 at 7:38 AM
Step 1: Make sure to remind your viewers that ICE were targeting a man "wanted for domestic assault"; they are the good guys!

The only issue is that, while Greg Bovino claims that ICE's target that day had a “significant criminal history", this seems to be false: www.kttc.com/2026/01/25/m...

The deception exhibited here should be plain to see and alarming to all. Most have seen Fox mislead their viewers via loaded questions, insinuations and lying by omission, but here we see proof that Fox is willing to deliberately trick its viewers into false interpretations of real news stories
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
3. The wording here is crucial: "... prepare for 'violence', that was the directive back in July."

The word 'directive' is extremely deliberate: remember the narrative he's built is that there are sinister figures at the top of anti-ICE groups, passing down "orders" to people like Renee Good
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
1. The quotes displayed on screen are deliberately stripped of any context that would indicate the source of each quote

2. The entire narrative up until to this moment has been that Democratic politicians are intentionally radicalizing their base into committing acts of violence
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
If you watch the video of Jesse reading these quotes, you can see his words are carefully chosen to avoid a lawsuit. He reads each quote as "The base said ..."

But make no mistake, this is just the show's writers covering themselves legally. They had full intention of misleading their viewers
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
The others:

"Our own base is telling us that what we're doing is not good enough ... [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public," the lawmaker said

A fourth House Democrat said constituents have told them "civility isn't working" and to prepare for "violence."
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
The author of the article was actually speaking to Democratic politicians, who are quoting their constituents. Full first quote:

"Some of them have suggested ... what we really need to do is be willing to get shot" when visiting ICE facilities or federal agencies, a third House Democrat told Axios.
"There needs to be blood": Democrats' voters tell them to "get shot" in Trump resistance push
One House Democrat was told by constituents that "civility isn't working" and to prepare for violence.

Now let's call out the deception:

A casual Fox viewer is likely to assume the above quotes are from Democratic politicians, telling their constituents to commit acts of violence. In fact, the entire segment up to this moment is designed to cultivate this assumption. But they're not.
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
Step 7: Back up your claim that "Democrats have wanted something like this to happen" with an Axios article. On screen:

Democrats told to "get shot" for the anti-Trump resistance

"Civility isn't working" and to prepare for "violence"

"There needs to be blood to grab the attention of the public"
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
Step 6: Pepper into another JD Vance clip to further the idea that there are highly organized groups of anti-ICE activists, with orders coming in from some higher chain of command.

The clear implication for the viewer at this point is that these "orders" are coming from Democratic politicians
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
Step 5: Now you're ready to make your big claim: the Democratic party is systematically radicalizing its voter base to commit acts of violence on their behalf.

The purpose? To "protect illegal alien criminals"
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
Step 4: Suggest that Renee Good's life was in shambles and that this made her an ideal target for radicalization. Pair this with a video of JD Vance suggesting she was "radicalized" and "brainwashed" by left-wing ideology
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
Step 3: Emphasize that Renee Good had undergone "training" as part of her activism, subtly suggesting she was part of a highly organized, sinister network of "anti-ICE agitators" referenced previously

Bonus: Remind the viewers that she has short hair so that they know she's not "one of them"
January 25, 2026 at 8:18 AM
Step 2: Utilize a JD Vance statement which paints the picture of a vast, sinister network of left-wing radicals whose mission is to cause chaos and impede law enforcement
