Decided to treat myself by rewatching one of my top 10 favourite films and it occurred to me that one of the reasons I've always loved it is that a spy is discovered because of his lack of pop culture knowledge.

Watching this for our upcoming DK episode of @cinemashame.bsky.social and I’m reminded that I’ve never really liked Allen in a movie as an actor, especially in movies he didn’t direct. Doesn’t help that Herbert Ross struggles to transform Allen’s stage play into an actual movie.

People are doing that thing where they're getting mad about a clickbait headline that does not represent the content of the actual article. David French's "How Woman Destroyed the West" is a direct rebuttal/criticism of a speech made by a conservative woman who made the headlines argument.

It's a clickbait headline. While French's article does have some stupid stuff in it, for the most part it's a direct rebuttal/criticism of a speech made by a conservative woman that made the headline's suggested argument.

Watching this for our next podcast and I’m struck by how I’ve always been annoyed by scenes where childless people struggle diapering a baby. I’m a childless person who’s diapered a baby and I can report that it’s really easy!

The first thing I did was search for a story about Gene Tierney and my jaw dropped reading this bit about her daughter, Daria, who was born deaf, partially blind and with severe mental disabilities. The guilt of how Gene's fame led to those disabilities was a major factor in her breakdown.

I mean, he's also the guy who wrote the adaptation of A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY that deviated so much from the book they had to change the title, so it tracks.

Just broke my record for the most amount of money spent on a movie poster, but I don't know when else I'd ever get a chance to pick up an original linen-backed poster for one of my favourite movies by one of my favourite directors starring one of my favourite leading ladies.

People always bring up the classic film posters Drew Stuzan painted. but my faves are the ones he did for stuff like the forgotten Keith Gordon military school TV movie comedy, COMBAT HIGH (which was retitled COMBAT ACADEMY for its home video release).

FB memories reminded me of the time I bought a used album for $3 and got it home and realized it was autographed. I feel like this is a painfully accurate example of the disposability of pop celebrity.
