My mentor in college ended up spending a year as interim president. During his tenure we had student win a Heisman Trophy and another win Playboy Pet of the Year, among other crazy occurrences. I tried for a few years to get him to write a memoir about that year.

Honestly it feels like three varieties of angry male incel culture:

- those who cant get any
- those who get it thru church
- those who can just afford to pay.

Hmm,…or could it be a Michigan-based corporate social media staffer (or consultant) left their phone/computer where someone could get it?

Samantha Power’s book if you’ve never read it before.
She owes us an update too after years in government, and watching what our own nation will do on the border under Trump.

Interesting piece on what may be going on. I think the learned helplessness corresponds well too with what happened in 70s when some folks turned inward & some extreme radicals hid underground.

I think we’re pacing ourselves ATM, but watch for backsliding into personal transformation movements instead of mass organized ones. Many activists turned inward after election of Nixon & Kent State. Communes, new age mvmt, therapeutic responses, etc. There’s a reason 70s turned into the Me Decade.

Although they never use the term, the UN is effectively a confederation. And as the US Articles of Confederation illustrated, those don’t work well.

Lots of other things tossed too. A UT volunteer office that I helped open in 1992 was moved from Student Affairs into Diversity & Community Engagement years after I left. Seems to have been gutted too now. No one could give me an answer (Dean of Students or Presidents Office) when I asked in June.
