Not to disparage the other games nominated, or the composers, but at least two of those game soundtracks are in the low thousands of views on YouTube, Clair Obscur is in the millions.

This is utterly absurd.

efforts would need to be made to publicize the effort on other platforms that are not taking ICE ad money, with clearly stated goals for what concessions the group desires from sites like Twitch and Youtube. That's what I'm talking about. A full collective action from all sides, should it be needed.

You don't. An organized boycott would mean viewers, streamers, and video creators refusing to watch, stream, or upload videos onto those sites for the duration of the action, however long that is. Ideally, a month or more. It also means cancelling payments to the platforms. Additionally,

ICE buying ads is gross, but your initial proposed course of action doesn't achieve anything on the face of it. The thought you initially discarded, boycotting and collective action, is workable, and is a much better use of everyone's energy than arguing over the other point.

And I am trying to explain the issues people are having in a fairly calm fashion. It's easy to get heated on the internet, and when one is heated, it's easy to make assumptions and assume the worst about people and their statements. I don't think you're evil or anything like that, just misguided.

Tell people to cancel subs to services taking those ads. Organize strikes, blackouts, and other actions with creators to deprive the companies of all income. That's where we need to go. Set up mutual aid for the creators, that sort of thing. That's where we win. We make it not financially viable.
August 7, 2025 at 12:46 AM
still the companies putting up the ads, not the creators. And if you DO have Twitch Turbo or Youtube Premium while these ads are running, are you doing your part to discourage them? Or are you rewarding the companies for bad behavior?

Look for the money. Pressure them. Take their money away.
August 7, 2025 at 12:46 AM
Like, if RNG gives you an ICE ad on a Youtube video from 20 years ago, by your initial statement, that creator is pro-ICE. That makes no sense. But you'd still be using Youtube or Twitch? That makes no sense at all. Even if you're paying for Youtube Premium or Twitch Turbo and don't see ads, it's

Just...redirect it at the people actually making the decisions. Because that's the only thing that's going to change anything. Letting misunderstandings of how things work further fracture things is how they keep us from organizing effective boycotts and protests.

We have to stand together.
August 7, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Because when presented with shit like this, it's easy to get really pissed off and pop off about it. I get it, I've done it plenty myself. At the same time, most everyone here is furious about this along with you, we're just trying to tell you that your plan of action is flawed. It's good energy.
August 7, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Would you lose the same money stopping working for a week or month, or by eventually losing all of your viewers? Absolutely not. Plus, if you coordinate well, strikes can have funds to support the people striking. This is collective action 101.

It's okay to make mistakes like this, really.
August 7, 2025 at 12:38 AM
If you want to effect change, you follow the money. Always. Look at how a fringe group got major digital platforms to delist LGBT+ and Furry games by going after the credit card companies, and how people are fighting back against that censorship the same way.

"You'd lose the same money" not really.
August 7, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Like, seriously? Yes, of course a boycott of Twitch of Youtube makes way more sense, because neither of those platforms cares at all about their contractors. They only care about the bottom line. No streams, no new videos, no new views? That makes way more of a difference than singling out creators.
August 7, 2025 at 12:38 AM
So why are you fixating on the streamers or video makers instead of the platforms? A boycott of Youtube or Twitch would make tremendously more sense than going after their contractors who have never had a say in what ads get run on their videos.

You mention it in the other post but you reject it?

For a very brief moment, I thought this was about TTRPGs and like, raising your hand for the DM so you're not interrupting anyone else at the table.🤣
