Tired, had a hard day with some odd nausea, so I wore Five o’ Clock Au Gingembre as my #sotd to cut the ick. Ginger has a great anti-emetic effect - even the smell makes me feel better. The scent is sweet, fresh, and light.

#scentoftheday was Tauer L’Air du Desert Marocain. Stuffy spice carried on a cool wind. Green bitterness underneath. And the smell of sweat. Potent, a bit sweet, and beautiful. It reminds me in an off kilter way of one of the skanky fougeres for hairy chested men in the 70s-80s, but more refined.

I love #CastlevaniaNocturne. Not least because of the Haitian Revolution references. Since next season we will see much more of the Haitian Revolution, let me recommend this book.

#scentoftheday is Lolita Lempicka. A sweet licorice gourmand treat. Somehow cold, reminds me of chilled aniseed liquor (if it was sweet and I liked it.) someone described this as “whimsigoth.”

#scentoftheday is Feminité du Bois by Serge Lutens - The 2024 version is a beautiful woody cinnamon plum with a hint of floral. Mixed with 401 Bon Parfumeur, which is a more resinous, woodier cinnamon plum with more strength. Both remind me of plum jam, very winter appropriate. #fragrancesky

#scentoftheday is Ching Shih by Marissa Zappas. A mystical myrrh, osmanthus and gunpowder scent that somehow straddles winter and summer. It’s named after the most successful pirate in history. And definitely smells dangerous, sexy and smoky.

Sweet white floral with green elements. Naturally sweet though like flowers - not like a sugar bomb. Fresh, powdery and soft like petals. Three sprays equal arms length sillage and longevity of 3 hours

Finally a great cheapie: Stash by SJP. With notes of grapefruit, sage, frankincense, cedar and Massoia wood, it’s a comforting citrusy woody fragrance without the “lemon Pledge” vibe. It’s given some brightness by the grapefruit, and sweetness from lily, and is totally unisex.

Finally a great cheapie: Stash by SJP. With notes of grapefruit, sage, frankincense, cedar and Massoia wood, it’s a comforting citrusy woody fragrance without the “lemon Pledge” vibe. It’s given some brightness by the grapefruit, and sweetness from lily, and is totally unisex.
Orange Blossom by Lush is an addictive soapy-sunny treat. The orange blossom is grounded with neroli, making it more bitter aromatic citrus than sweet bubblegum. Beeswax, rosewood and animalics make this a heavier, deeper more “rough” perfume than a classic French orange blossom you might expect.
