Exposing the truth about the dangers of "natural" gas & the fossil fuel industry's disinformation at hotandtoxic.com.
In WI, a gas pipeline failure ripped through a neighborhood — sending debris everywhere, damaging homes, & leading to the evacuation of 60 families.

When gas infrastructure fails, families pay the price — not the utilities. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/4j042p8

DC residents are literally out on the streets tracking gas leaks themselves, and they found 400+ methane leaks in one year — with multiple at potentially explosive levels.

If everyday people can find them… why aren't utilities doing more to make our streets safer? https://to.pbs.org/4ly9oc3

Your stove shouldn’t pollute more than the street outside your home — but for millions of Americans, it does.

A new study shows gas + propane stoves can expose you to as much nitrogen dioxide inside as all outdoor sources combined! That means higher risks of asthma, lung disease, and even cancer.

The explosion in Chino Hills that injured 8 people last month is a heartbreaking reminder of how dangerous gas leaks can be.

Marylanders are paying more than ever for gas– but are they paying for safety or for utility profits?

According to a new Maryland PIRG report, BGE’s $4+ billion pipeline program isn't focused on identifying and fixing which pipes are actually riskiest.

Happy Thanksgiving from Hot & Toxic.

We love a cozy kitchen… just not the fumes that come with gas cooking.

Just like Chef Chris Galarza says: Turn on that vent, use your oven more than an open flame, and make sure your CO detector is working.

A few simple tweaks = a healthier Thanksgiving around the table. 🦃🌿

Most people don’t realize it: 💨 “Natural gas” = methane, a climate superpollutant 80× worse than CO₂.

Cindy hadn’t heard this before — and she’s not alone. The gas industry has spent decades selling us the “clean” myth.

The more we share the facts, the less they can keep gaslighting us.

Per the American Gas Association, gas utility spending has increased 50% from 2022 to 2023, reaching $49.1 billion! And that spending is coming back to haunt customers in the form of $1,000+ gas bills.

DYK that 90% of plastic production’s emissions come from just 18 communities, mostly low-income & communities of color?! And here’s the kicker: plastic is made from gas.

The same fossil fuels heating the planet are making the plastic that’s polluting our air. That’s not coincidence. It’s injustice.

Ever wonder how induction cooktops actually work? ⚡🍳

Chef @altonbrown breaks it down: instead of heating the surface, induction uses magnetic fields to heat the pan itself — fast, efficient, and even.

Translation: more control, less wasted energy, and no methane fumes in your kitchen.

🔥 #HotStatFriday: DYK that nitrogen dioxide pollution from gas stoves is responsible for 50,000 cases of childhood asthma?!

That’s 50,000 kids paying the price for an outdated fossil fuel appliance in our kitchens. 🫁💨

Cooking shouldn’t come with a side of toxic air.
