Oddsocks for Anti-Bullying Week
Students and staff at our Ladbroke Grove site wore odd socks on Monday to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week, celebrating what makes us all unique.

Students learned about the Diwali festival. They explored the story of Rama and Sita, Diwali traditions around the world, and the shared message of ‘good over evil’. Students also made cookies with Rangoli patterns — we especially loved one featuring a Diya lamp! Happy Diwali!

Young people at Collingham Child and Family Centre have been enjoying weekly Forest School sessions, learning new skills like pond dipping and identifying plants and animals. They’ve also put up hammocks, drawn with charcoal, climbed trees, and this week made S’mores after safely starting a fire.

Charcoal Drawings
Students visited our local park today and made some amazing drawings at Forest School using charcoal. The atmosphere was lovely.

We had a visit from Hands On Science at Collingham. They ran two workshops for the young people; one on candle making and one on making rockets. They tested the rockets outside and were pleased with the result! The workshop was kindly funded by our donor the Jack Petchey Foundation.

Students had a wonderful time making music with musicians Katie and Jack from Duo Melus. They used graphic scores and experimented with colours to make compositions. This one is called “Yellow.” A big thank-you to Katie, Jack, and the Tillett Trust for making possible.

Students at Brompton Hospital and Ladbroke Grove joined “biscuit week,” baking chocolate chip and chocolate covered Hobnobs. They shared them with staff and got great reviews and plan a homemade versus shop bought taste test soon!

Summer Holiday Programme
This year our summer break runs from Wed 23rd July to Fri 29th August. However our school will still stay open running a Summer Holiday Programme with our fabulous team of teaching assistants, artists, and musicians who will provide fun activities in our schoolrooms.

Students have been choosing music to learn. This week L. chose "Dearly Beloved" by Yoko Shimomura from the game Kingdom Hearts.
L. played the melody on the piano and M. played chords on the guitar.

One of the primary students enjoyed taking part in Teddy Bears Picnic Day! She designed her own menu including jam sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies and fruit. In Design Technology she then followed a recipe to bake the cookies as well as making heart and star shaped sandwiches. S

Students enjoyed concerts by musicians Yu-Wei Hu from Taiwan, who played the Baroque flute, and Johan Löfving from Sweden, who played the theorbo. The performances were part of the London Youth Conservatoire’s Impact Programme.

Students at Lavender Walk are enjoying a three-week music project with City of London Sinfonia. This week they played with Alex (violin), Anna (harp), Gawain (clarinet & electronics), and Fiona (ukulele). Still to come: cello, bassoon, and percussion!
