And also, the president is the command-in-chief of the armed forces. The precedence to salute was set, ironically, by one of the heroes of GOP lore: Pres. Ronald Reagan. So, yeah, I’d say Trump should salute since that has been the precedent set and presidents have followed suit afterward.
