Nerdiest advice I can give you as an old pro at this and a project manager. Make a gantt chart with everything you plan to make so you know what goes in when.

I find I buy books a lot differently than other media. Buying a book blind is something I'm not ever going to do. If I'm not already familiar with the author's work, I'm not likely to buy their book unless it's highly recommended by someone I know very well.
