My hope is that this book both attracts and encourages new students of the Viking-Age Scandinavian world at the same time it introduces these nascent Vikingists to the latest theories on the Viking phenomenon, written in a manner and structure that is inclusive to all.

Aimed at a wide readership, I have attempted to make this illustrated book present the latest thinking on the Viking Age in an accessible way, while including as many (rather beautiful) images of recent major finds as possible.
