Lansdowne 2.0 was just approved by Council 15-10, and it's definitely worth taking note of the geographical imbalance on the vote.

The two out-of-place "yes" votes are Marty Carr (Alta Vista) and Stéphanie Plante (Rideau-Vanier):

Just now - Councillor @shawnmenard.bsky.social
is interrupted by Councillor @timtierney.ca while asking questions on Lansdowne.

Menard pushes back, then Tierney calls him an "asshole". This behaviour is unbefitting of a councillor, and demands an integrity complaint.

FINCO heard dozens of delegates express their concerns about Lansdowne 2.0 through the 2-day long meeting, yet a majority of members still approved the deal, sending it to council for final approval.

At today’s Council meeting, a motion from Councillor Lo to suspend the rules to add a time-sensitive Lansdowne motion failed, so councillors did not have the opportunity to vote on it.

Here's how it went down and what Councillor @shawnmenard.bsky.social had to say:

Rural residents in Ottawa have long faced limited public transit. The current levy reflects that. Rural households with reduced service pay significantly less than urban areas, but also receive less service:

Extreme heat is coming to Ottawa on Monday, with a forecasted high of 35°, feeling like 47° with the humidity.

This is a serious danger for many, particularly the unhoused.

Mayor Sutcliffe needs to ensure cooling centres are available to keep the public safe.

Our petition calling on #OttCity to amend its advertising policy to ban misleading fossil fuel ads was on the record for this morning's City Council meeting.

We'll also be delegating at committee on Tuesday to call on Council to stand up against fossil fuel misinformation!

(1/2) Mayor Sutcliffe has thrown his support behind a "bubble by-law" that would have drastic consequences for organizing in #OttCity, and represents an unconstitutional violation of our right to dissent.

This map shows what the prohibited zones could look like based on the Vaughan by-law:

Right-wing “media” grifters crossed the police line onto our side of the street. Instead of protecting us, the police detained two counter-protesters who were trying to block the “journalists” from agitating the crowd. The two counter-protesters were later released without charge.

Yesterday, dozens of community members came together to stand up “Billboard Chris” and other right-wing agitators spewing their hateful ideology out front of two Ottawa schools. @csottawa.bsky.social organized a “Drown Out the Hate” counter-protest, and we stood our ground for almost 4 hours.
