This was no genuine dialogue about the use of hotels to accommodate asylum seekers. These were no ‘concerned citizens’, or ‘worried mums and dads’, but individuals with nothing better to do on Halloween than film themselves partaking in racist abuse.⬇️

At one point, a resident of the hotel comes to his window. In response, a protester shouts “jump out the window and kill yourself, you’ve got no future”. The crowd then breaks into a chant of “jump, jump, jump”.⬇️

Present were many of Manchester's community of ‘auditors’ - so-called “citizen journalists” who descend upon anti-migrant protests to generate social media content and revenue.⬇️

The Shield leader Hargreaves was suspended from school at 13 for breaking a teacher’s legs and has multiple prison stints, all for violent crime. Hargreves was criticised for appointing Muslims to leadership positions and has since quit X, reducing the Shield’s influence.

A leading speaker at AAIM protests is Homeland member and ex-marine John Carr, interviewed by counterterrorism over alleged neo-Nazi links. Carr’s protest speeches are packed with racist conspiracy theories, claiming to live in an “anti-white society” that “wants to replace us”.

In Scotland, Aberdeen Against Illegal Migration have organised multiple anti-migrant demos and attempted to run night patrols. People involved include local fascist Gavin Turpie, who has links to Britain First and the British Democrats.

Group leader Neil Pinkerton (right) has a history of extreme animal abuse and was recently in court on assault and theft charges linked to the group. Other figures include Mark Paybe, convicted of attempted murder after stabbing a 14-year-old child, and an ex-UVF bank robber.

Vigilantism is a long-standing tradition of the far fight, from Britain First’s anti-Muslim patrols in 2014 to UKIP’s recent exploits in Calais harassing people seeking asylum. One of the most extreme current anti-migrant groups is the East Belfast Nightwatch First Division.

The dangers posed by these secretive, militant groups should not be underestimated. They attract violent individuals ready to clash with minority groups and anti-fascists; a figure associated with Active Club Midlands has called for “mass assassinations” of perceived enemies.

Active Clubs combine hand-to-hand combat training with extremist ideology in order to foster a militant fascist elite. Members (who use fake names) meet in parks and gyms to prepare for violence, drilling martial arts under white supremacist flags.

Andrew McIntyre, a key instigator of the racist riots in Merseyside last summer was a member of AC North West. Others have links to the now-proscribed National Action group and have served time for violent offences.

Led by bricklayer Matthew Darrington, the group trains in a gym in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Darrington is also the East Midlands organiser for Patriotic Alternative, one of the UK’s largest neo-Nazi groups, and has organised anti-migrant protests in his hometown.

Nick Tenconi’s UKIP is a far-cry from any mainstream political party, harbouring exceptionally extreme immigration policies, a dangerous vendetta against the LGBTQ+ community and a plan to wipe any non-Christian beliefs out of Britain.

They would slash abortion care, ban sex education for those under 18, instil exclusively Christian messaging in education, ban Islamic faith schools, deny the trans community their right to exist and hinder gay couples from starting families.

UKIP wants aggressive remigration tactics, targeting those who have resided in the UK for up to 25 years. It also offers financial rewards for those willing to identify “illegal migrants” to the government, turning the British population into state-sanctioned bounty hunters.
