Civ 7s post launch cycle has been so interesting.
They tried so many new things that nobody liked, so everyone just went back to civ 5&6 and they've just been slowly turning 7 into a more "classic" game since it launched to try and get people to actually play it.
Soon it'll just be a reskinned 6

I think it has more to do with people being sick of Pokemon games looking/running like absolute dog shit.
I've always said that art style matters more than high fidelity graphics, Nintendo seems to be aware of this too because they make some great looking games on shit hardware. Pokemon fails both.
