To whom this concerns. I wish to voice my concern & raise a formal complaint against the words of Ryan Bridge in his interview with Chloe Swarbrick in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGeLOArDRQY Dated 7 October 2025, in particular to the 1:10second period where he states 'this is a chick who went out..! The absolute misogynist characterisation of a woman in the news as a member of the animal kingdom is unbecoming of anyone who wishes to be considered a journalist. Language like that in our public political discourse went out a long time ago. There will be some who say 'it's his job to be provocative, I reject that assertion 100%, given the agressive derogatory nature of the term 'chick'. I would expect nothing less than an apology for his words, they are disgusting in 2025. Also could NZ Herald show some leadership & turn off the comments on these highly emotional subjects. The absolute torrent of abuse and hate directed at the leader of the Greens & the Green Party itself is unconscionable, and with NZ Herald leaving them up suggests NZ Herald condones these anonymous cowardly comments. We need constantly to remind ourselves that there's nothing normal or inevitable about it. It would be a catastrophe from which we would not recover for many years, in which terrible things are done, to minorities, to vulnerable people, to the rest of the living planet. We cannot let it happen.
