Thank you to MP Sarah Champion for reading and promoting our report. We're proud of this model of independent advocacy and how survivors are shaping it. We're excited to see the model piloted nationally and hope this will be incorporated into the UK's national framework & response to modern slavery.

Survivors of other complex crimes such as domestic abuse, sexual abuse and stalking have access to accredited, dedicated professionals to advocate alongside them. However, this vital provision is not yet available to adult survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK.

Today marks the official launch of a pilot to ensure that survivors of modern slavery across the UK have access to an accredited independent advocate. The launch event, ‘Independent Modern Slavery Advocacy: Working Together for Lasting Change’, is taking place in London and online.

218 years ago, the UK passed the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act. 25th March is marked each year as The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

Proud that the Ethiopian Government acknowledges our “outstanding contribution” to shelter services.⁠ The Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Justice references Hope for Justice's work with women and children subjected to gender-based violence during their trafficking and exploitation.⁠

The Independent Modern Slavery Advocate® (IMSA®) Project Board are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our application for National Lottery funding. The IMSA® Project will receive £999,850 over four years from The National Lottery Community Fund.
