Purdue blew Texas Tech out of the gym 86-56 to win the Baha Mar Championship. This event saw three great games prior to the championship game, and then the championship game put everyone to sleep.

Last night they went into USC. Once again, the game was tied at the half. Once again, the game was tied at the end of regulation. Once again, the game went into a second overtime...and then to a third overtime.

I want to make sure everyone knows what they are looking at. This is merely what I feel is a CHECKPOINT of CURRENT MERIT. It is not an attempt to rank how good I think the teams actually are, nor is it an attempt to guess what the bracket in March will look like on Selection Sunday. Texas Tech is my pick to win it all, and they didn't even make this field.

Conference USA is tonight's feature conference and we discuss Liberty, how well they've played so far, and what their chances are to land inside the bubble. Rocco points out how strong the league is from top to bottom and how difficult the travel can be. From there we run through the other 21 conferences and talk about how Hawaii is a team to watch in the Big West, Buffalo's surprise 5-0 start out of the MAC, Iona's strong start, UT Martin's strong start out of the OVC, Troy's big win over San Diego State, Winthrop's near upset win over Arkansas, High Point's prospects for the rest of the year, and much more.

NEWS AND NOTES: -It was one of the crazier nights of the season so far! And none of the craziness involved the Champions Classic. Kansas jumped out to an early lead on Duke, but Duke came back and then jumped out to a lead of their own and held it for the rest of the game for an impressive 78-66 win.

NEWS AND NOTES: -For the latest Hoops HD Report Video Podcast - CLICK HERE -VCU gave NC State a battle on the the road and had a chance to win until the final minute or so of the game, but NC State held on 85-79. VCU falls to 2-2 with the two losses being close games to Utah State and NC State.

The Panel is back to review a busy week, and to preview an even busier week! Purdue won a big one at Alabama earlier this week to reclaim the top spot in both polls. Houston also won a big game against Auburn in Birmingham in a game that came down to the wire. Arizona and UConn also managed really big wins this week, and Florida and Michigan had to sweat in a couple of games, but they both held on.

NEWS AND NOTES: For our Hoops HD Report In Season Tournament Special where we run through all of the upcoming tournaments - CLICK HERE -Neither Auburn or Houston had been tested coming into yesterday's game, and Auburn had nearly blown their opener against Bethune Cookman, but both played at a high level in an exciting game that was close throughout and that came down to the final possession.

IT IS NOVEMBER MADNESS!!! Chad is joined by a full panel and they run through every single upcoming in-season tournament. The biggest event is the Players-Era Event that has multiple teams that are likely to end up not just in the NCAA Tournament, but end up with protected seeds. Other big events are the Maui Invitational, the Charleston Classic which features Clemson, Georgia, and West Virginia, the Battle 4 Atlantis where nearly all the teams are off to great starts, and much more.

NEWS AND NOTES: -In Boston, UConn jumped out to a big early lead against BYU and appeared to be cruising, but the Cougars just kept chipping away, and chipping away, and chipping away. They it down to 2pts, but could not quite get completely over the top and the Huskies held on to win 86-84. It's hard to not be impressed with BYU despite the loss.

NEWS AND NOTES: -Arizona now has two major wins on their profile and the season isn't even two full weeks old. They knocked off UCLA in an exciting 69-65 game that was close all throughout. It was UCLA's first real test, and while they didn't win it, and while it can take some time for the bad taste of a hard fought loss to a rival to wash out of your mouth, I think the Bruins are going to be fine.

NEWS AND NOTES: -Just this past Saturday Alabama won at Saint John's. I said at the time that would likely be one of the more impressive singular wins any team manages this season given how good the Johnnies were and how they may not lose at home again for the rest of the year. Last night, we saw an even bigger singular win as Purdue went into Alabama and came out with a massive, almost assuredly upper-quad-1 level 87-80 win.

Longwood from the Big South is a team worth paying attention to. They held a double digit lead for most of the game against James Madison last night in their 82-72 win.

We recap a very busy first week and discuss some of the teams that have surprised us so far like Stephen F Austin from the Southland (which was our first featured conference of the season), NJIT who's managed a couple of road wins, and UT Martin who has looked good out of the OVC.

NEWS AND NOTES: -We will be recording this week's Under the Radar Video Podcast tonight, so keep an eye out for that. -Louisvlle vs Kentucky was a high energy, high intensity affair where Louisville pretty much had a lead from tip to buzzer and got up by as much as 20 in the second half. Kentucky kept hitting shots and got as close as 4, but Louisville held on for the 96-88 win.

The NBA Finals date back to 1947 (when they were known as the Basketball Association of America Finals) and the very 1st NCAA tourney was held in 1939. Olympic basketball competition is even older: it debuted as a demonstration event in 1904, and the men’s version became a medal sport in 1936, with the women finally getting their chance to go for the gold in 1976.
