I’d recommend Magnificent Obsession (1935)—also directed by Stahl—but I found Robert Taylor terribly annoying in it.

Always nice to spot Shiva in a movie. I like to make believe that he’s playing the same character.

Thank you. I just found out that Der kleine Prinz is available on Kanopy now.

No, I haven’t been able to find it. That along with Genesung, Leute mit Flügeln (People with Wings), and Der Kleine Prinz remain unseen by me.

Save for Sonnensucher (Sun Seekers), which appears to have been a troubled production, the rest of his filmography is quite remarkable.

And although Lancaster’s wasn’t perhaps the first face which came to mind when I read it, it became hard to picture anyone else as Don Fabrizio after I saw the movie. Have you seen the teaser trailer for the new adaptation?

I know, right?! Considering my shopping cart has been growing despite my best efforts to pare it down over the past day or so, you’d think they’d do the opposite of rushing me.

At some point I’d like to read the biography by James Downs.

It’s an excellent idea. Perhaps it could include a brief section set during the making of "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp", particularly his confrontation with Churchill.

Nearly every single title put out by Second Run and Third Window Films feels like it’s worth my time.
