Not coming in with an answer (I’m originally an east coaster), but the warning texts/alerts I got literally said “a tsunami is expected”.

Having an anxiety attack at work in a high rise in the 2nd/Market area and this has eased my worry a tad. Thank you for sharing.

Part of me wonders if Lorelei (unintentionally!) made that world appealing to Rory due to her own disdain for it. Because they aligned on so much else, maybe Rory subconsciously saw it as a way to rebel & differentiate from her mother.
(Or maybe I’ve just had too much caffeine and am overthinking)
