RHUL History PhD I History Teacher. Interested in children and young people's perspectives during war and after it. Living in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Yesterday, I delivered a new workshop in Swindon. This time students engaged with oral histories of childhood recovering from war in Britain. A fascinating day only made possible by the schools’ history department who have been fundamental in guiding my teaching practice as I carry out this project.

A fabulous day in Liverpool attending the HA’s annual event, where historical scholarship meets the history classroom. Every seminar I attended was refreshing, rigorous and constructive - so many exciting things happening in the world of history at the moment! Can’t wait for next year!

Another fab day with some high ability year 9 students, working out how oral histories of childhood could be used within the secondary history curriculum. Their perspectives are shaping my research in unexpected and unconventional ways, and I'm looking forward to the next one greatly!

A really exciting day in Swindon recently showing students the value of oral histories of childhood in their history curriculum. A class of year 7, 8 and 9’s encouraged to use their own perspective to engage and empathise with experiences of children in the past! One of many more workshops to come!
