I don’t know if this is anything bluesky will like but I wrote a song about what it’s like to be an angry woman in a society that wants us to be quiet & demure & it’s one of the most cathartic things I’ve ever done in my life. It’s called Soft Spot:

Hey bluesky, I’m Alex/ Honeycrush, singer-songwriter in NYC 🥀

3 years ago, I taught myself guitar after DECADES of wishing I had the guts to try making music.

Next month, I'm releasing my first 6-song EP.

I've worked through SO much ageism & self-doubt to get here & I'm grateful xx

Thank you for interacting with my posts even if you’ve already seen them. The way promoting art online seems to work is that the only sure way to fail is to stop sharing, even if you feel like you're being "annoying". Thank you to the ones who get it!!

one great band practice is all it takes to take me from feeling like a slug to an unstoppable force xx

If you're in NYC for the New Year, I'd love to see you at my show!

My band is playing Arlene's Grocery Jan 6. What better what to spend that day than listening to alt rocky, folk-tinged, groovy tunes with good people?

Here we are, waiting for you to say hi!!

Love this scarf. A good scarf can really change your whole outlook on the day.

So grateful that 1 little post reached so many people who support & love to find emerging, small artists.

I’m working really hard to put a full album out, my debut album & it’s stressful & exhausting at times.

Just wanted to share my gratitude bc your kindness & interest are helping me through!

I’ve noticed a slight uptick in followers on Spotify & I want to say THANK YOU if that was you.

It can be hard to reach people as an indie musician but taking the extra second to tap “Follow Artist” means when I release music, it won’t get buried, you’ll be able to hear it.

That’s all I want!

This Telecaster is a vote of confidence from a legendary instrument maker. I rarely talk about it but it’s an honor to have been given it.

You never know what might happen if you try & try hard.

I avoided trying for decades out of fear of failure & thinking it was too late. It’s never too late.

Since I got my 1st guitar 3 years ago, some incredible things have happened:

1. My 1st EP was signed to a cool indie label Dune Altar

2. I had a song in a TV show

3. Fender sent me this guitar! I’ve put all of my energy into music since I started in 2021 & I’m not slowing down ❤️‍🔥

Just made an order of some custom giveaway merch for shows. Can't wait to share them, it's such an honor when someone grabs a piece of merch or a sticker from me :)

Been loving these hats, though and still have some left!! www.honeyyycrush.com/merch/p/pink...

Damn, I'm honestly floored by the kindness and interest you've been showing me about my music and the journey to learn guitar, write and release it over the last 3 years.

Anyone in the NYC/ NJ area want to come to a show?? Going to have one in January and I'd love to meet you!

The night I got my guitar (2021) vs playing my 1st festival (2024).

When I got my 1st amp, I had to let the sales guy demo it for me bc I couldn’t even play a note to try it out.

Fast fwd 2 me & the band having a blast at Midwest Friends Fest!

Never let not knowing how to do something stop you!!!

Do not be Vic. Do not talk to people like this ESPECIALLY women/ femme musicians. We get this shit all the time from the least qualified people. Scroll on instead of leaving “advice” no one asked for. Unsolicited advice is just condescension in disguise.

You don’t have to look or be a certain age to struggle with ageism. It’s societally imposed.

3. Yes I really did get my first guitar 3 years ago. If you don’t believe me, look at the date stamps on all my social media 🫠 I’ve been sharing this journey since day 1.

4. I appreciate you being here!

Wow thank you for finding me from my last post! Want 2 address a few things:

1. Yes, I write all my music. You can listen on Spotify, Apple etc

2. Internal ageism prevents people from pursuing their passions all the time. Scrutinizing my lived experience bc you’re guessing my age gets you blocked.

I’m no longer choosing between dreamy melodies & harsh/ abrasive guitar, I’m just making the music I make & not worrying about genres

I’m here sharing music, looking for likeminded music lovers & sharing the progress of making my debut album. It’s been a whirlwind. I quit my full time job to do this. It’s scary but nothing has felt so fulfilling. Grateful to live a life of art, playing music every day.

Hope 2 see you at a show x

Every year has brought a new milestone.

Year 1 = learning the instrument & breaking down my insecurities, year 2 head down in writing to find my voice, & this year 3 was all about shows! The Honeycrush band sold out our 1st headline show.

Then we went on a mini tour & played some festivals (cont)
