I played all your freeware games in high school and loved them! Years later I was so hyped to see your newest game being released on the Switch. I was and still am totally blown away by Celeste, it's a truly phenomenal game. Thank you for making games

I'll always shoutout Gravity Circuit! My personal fav Mega Man styled game. Really fun and varied set of levels, great flow with combat and bosses, and a phenomenal soundtrack. Also ufo 50 is the GOAT if you haven't taken the plunge yet.

Seeing the progression of DQ1-2-3-4 all on the NES is fascinating. The world design and balancing of progression (besides the later half of DQ2) is so well designed. And seeing thr original application of so many JRPG staples is just so cool

I think people just have to been wired for an endurance battle and then it's not too rough. Plus prioritizing targets like it's Doom

This game absolutely rules. It's completrly insane what they've come up with. The sculpture park is my favorite area so far.

I'm not sure actually. I remember getting a lot of music through groupees at the time or maybe the artwork just stood out on itunes

Yo I listened to Erasers Fantasy nonstop a million years ago! Love that one and love all the Machine Girl artwork

Playing through this again with my arcade stick! Super excited to what Acts 5 and 6 have in store

Silksong is my #1 easy. Other standouts for me this year were Pipistrello, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Absolum and DQ1+2HD2D. Also UFO 50 because that game is big enough for two years at least

This one was so good!! Crazy inventive dungeon themes, awesome movement abilities, great combat and puzzles, and it just oozes style.

This is looking so rad!! Can't wait!

I LOVED the theme park level. That layer felt like the only one with actual level design. The rest of the game felt really one note and lackluster. I was so sick of the grunt that DK makes when you collect a banana by the end. And the reskinned enemies as kremlins felt like cheap pandering

Tunic is so good for this. Lunacid was also a super fun world to explore.

If you do just want systems to play with SMTV is probably your best bet. Awesome team building and battle system with a phenomenal soundtrack. Very minimal story too, mostly vibes based

I enjoyed my time with Metaphor but I feel it's trying to do a bit too much. It feels like an Atlus Greatest Hits game while not doing anything it does as great as any of their other titles. Would love to see what they do if they take another stab at something similar.

I think metroidbrainia as a term works as a descriptor but not a genre. It distills the feeling I get from playing Tunic/outer wilds/void stranger despite them all being very different mechanically. I haven't seen another term that effectively does that

I've played and mostly enjoyed every game from Red/Blue to Ultra sun/moon. After that I started playing other JRPGs that I find to be more compelling in every aspect. It took me 20 years but I finally have no interest in what's going on in the world of Pokemon.
