It was then capitalised to make it look important. As it was capitals everyone thought it was an acronym, so they held a competition to work out what it was and the most popular answer was “Technology Without An Interesting Name”

Possibly because I work in IT it’s a known story but as far as I remember it was the name for the technology used to connect printers to computers and taken from the line “and never the Twain shall meet”.
