Earlier this year, on a Friday at university, some people were talking about Pope Franciscus and I said, ‘That guy’s still alive?’ Fast forward to Monday, first thing I hear in class, ‘The pope is dead.’ So I like to entertain the thought that somehow I was responsible for his death.

What do you do when a group of friends splits in two?

It is like trying to light a candle in a hurricane—not because you think it will work, but because you can’t bear to sit in the dark without trying.

I finally have the chance to tell you what I’ve been wishing to say for all these years
Yet, it makes me nervous—or even anxious—to express it
Especially because I may have made it seem far more important than it actually is to you

After an endless session of banging my head against my typewriter, trying to find the perfect way to write a note to deliver to someone who may or may not have already received it, I realized the only way to truly confirm the delivery is to deliver it myself, which ruins the mystery of who wrote it.

In order to ease my mind from the events of S.V.S and the realization that most, if not all, of my former friends have become nothing but strangers, I decided to write a book about magical beings and some of their adventures.

It appears that my birthday met the same fate as many S.V.S moments - forgotten.
I’m not one to demand a firework festival in my honor, but a simple acknowledgment would be welcoming.
