Indigenous people are among those at the most extreme risk of violence. Our killers and abusers are overwhelmingly non-Native, and the pursuit criminal charges is often stonewalled by police.

I doubt most news outlets will cover the racial aspect of this. If you’re interested, look into MMIWP.

As a Native person, I gotta say Until Dawn was never remotely respectful of indigenous spirituality. It’s weird to hear non-Natives discuss this over our heads without consulting us. By the way, we are still here - therefore our stories still have “modern relevance.”

I think it begs the question that a utopia would be necessary in all contexts. What we see as freedom now emerges from our current political and cultural context of oppression. I know for a fact my tribe did decent, but we have different ideas about how self determination and identity look now.
