Rabbits do great in the cold if you set them up right. I add extra hay for warmth and food, block wind, raise hutches off the ground, swap frozen water often, and keep bedding dry. A cozy, calm setup keeps rabbits comfortable all winter long.

I learned early that dry firewood matters more than fancy storage. I stack wood off the ground, cover only the top, leave the sides open for airflow, and keep it close enough to grab easily in snow. Dry wood = warm house = happy winter homestead.

I’ve raised both rabbits and chickens for years, and honestly… choosing between them comes down to what you want most. Chickens are loud, funny, and give you fresh eggs every day. Rabbits are quiet, clean, fast growers, and great for meat in a small space.
