@homesmithsjax.bsky.social
Care home interior designer. Specialising in design for dementia and sensory decline. Married to best friend and biz partner, David. Mother of sons and gorgeous golden cocker spaniel.
Various makes and never sticky. The little pink one (free with a cookery magazine years ago) is so versatile and is my go to for removing the last smudge of melted chocolate from a bowl. 👌🏻

One of my favourite Spring shrubs - glorious Vibernum opulus ‘Roseum’, also known as snowball bush, bringing joy and fragrance to my front garden.

It smells INCREDIBLE!

When your @sturdyalex.bsky.social inspired bulb lasagne is more “pasta bake”.

It seems that the squirrels do not respect the concept of layers. 🙄

And I just happened to be making this season’s batch of @nigella.bsky.social Fig & Olive Chutney whilst listening to this episode. Perfect for the quite ridiculous amount of cheese I seem to have in my fridge!

So that’ll be 24 years of HomeSmiths and working together and 25 years this year of being married. Thank you @northern-dave.bsky.social - my best friend, husband, business partner and the person I love doing life with.

😂 he oscillates between that and a Stuart king. Though he can also look like this.

Yep. Same here though Oscar does not seem so keen this evening. 😂

I was never really a dog person until this little chap joined the family during lock down. Cannot imagine life without Oscar now nor the twice daily walks which I love.

Still glorious, still beautifully fragrant.

Rosa “Gertrude Jekyll” still spreading joy and blooming in my garden.

Lovely afternoon spent at SBID design awards in London with one of our clients. Two of our care home projects made finalist which means so much to us.

A great couple of days at The Care Show, seeing new products and collections, catching up with sector friends and chairing a couple panel discussions, one on sensory spaces and another on sustainability in care home design and operation.

One of the bedrooms at Olney Meadows. So much space and storage!

What a genuinely lovely person Gabby Logan is. Met her today at our client’s 25th anniversary celebrations which she hosted. We got chatting about our love of podcasts and how we go on recommendations so @quietriotpod.bsky.social of course I mentioned you.

Had all the looks on the beach today sniggering at a certain feature around cats.

Listening to this whilst looking at turquoise waters but @sturdyalex.bsky.social,
I shall spare you the cold beer and crustaceans shot, which I am just about to tuck into ;)

When you’re enjoying a lazy cup of tea in bed but your spaniel, being able to SMELL his (what I thought was out of sight) orange tennis ball, is willing you to get up and take him out.

On site this week fitting out a 66 bed care home. Exhausting and satisfying in equal measure. Back next month to finish off but pending the final “ta-da”, some work in progress pics…

Well this is brilliant. Informative, anger inducing and at the same time hopeful and motivating. And perhaps predictably, I find myself reading it in the voice of @iandunt.bsky.social which just adds to the reading experience.

When I was a little girl, I used to LOVE spending time in the garden with Dad. He had three large beds which he used to crop rotate 😂 & a greenhouse full of tomatoes. It was my job to keep them watered. Today’s tomato inspection along with the smell of the vines, took me right back to my childhood.

On a warm evening, the combined fragrance of these two is 👌🏻
