The moral and legal gulf between not rescuing survivors of a sinking ship, and ordering your men to execute them, is as wide as the Gulf of Mexico.

Citizens quite strenuously pleaded with the Democratic administration to "Listen to Michigan", but the party adamantly refused. They didn't care what the voters were explicitly telling them. The Democrats decided to FAFO, but it isn't only the politicians that had to pay for their decision.

Its from a book by Ron Paul, Senator Rand Paul's father. He mis-attributed it as a quote by Orwell, and it became popular in Libertarian circles.

America doesn't have the societal framework that would make a general strike possible. No basic income. No job protections. Healthcare linked to employment. Legal fines that would cripple unions.

Americans have too much to loose right now to make a general strike plausible.

The French live in a society that protects its unruly workers from retribution. Us Americans live in a society that encourages retribution against unruly workers. The costs to workers that protest is much higher in America.

Pritzker is misleading you, and as a governor of a border state, he knows it. CBP's position on the border is correct, as it was decided back in the 50's.

We shouldn't condone politicians gaslighting their constituents about what the law is just to make a political point.

The shores of Lake Michigan have long been considered the border. This map has been the accepted norm since the 50's. Argue it should be changed, but don't argue that this is the Trump administration manipulating the law.

Also, fun fact:

Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are the same large lake.

There is a reason I respect those who swore to defend the Constitution. They take risks that others will not.

Officers know how to attend political events without taking a side. They could have instructed their men.

I hope that their failure to do so was a strategic retreat.

I fear it was not.

Yes, Trump is the criminal, but our courts have ruled he is immune. The only check that exists is that the people he gives orders to are not.

Trump is going to be Trump and have partisan pep rallies on our bases.

The responsibility falls on military leaders to make sure the "kids" follow the law.

What are the penalties for violating Dept. Of Defense Directive 1344.10 by actively participating in a partisan political rally while in uniform? Is it worse than scrubbing toilets.

What this scene shows, is no one believes that the rules are going to be enforced by the people who now have power.

The state of New Jersey should charge the people who assaulted Congresswoman McIver to delay her from performing her official duties. They had no right to lay hands on her.

The problem is that Comey was wrong.

86 implies that something is no longer available for sale, and 47 proved this week that is most definitely not the case.

Not the biggest fan of Shri, but this post isn't fair to him. He filed the paperwork to impeach Trump two days before he paid for the billboard to convince other members of Congress to join him.

In Michigan politicians budget 600 million to maintain roads and bridges for our 7.5 million licensed drivers, but they say the reason why we can't have a usable passenger rail system is that rail travel isn't profitable and would need to be subsidized.

Attorney general fights to return 6 million dollars stolen from the NRA. "Critics" say she is politically motivated. "Journalist" repeats the accusation as if it makes sense. What am I missing?
