Is that... A tracker made in ImGui?
December 14, 2025 at 10:25 AM
That's such a good way to describe it. It plays fine, and parts of the world seem neat on the surface, but then everything just feels dead, the music and sound effects feels basic and incohesive, and it's not like they give you very much to do in each space. It's just... Sub-par in a lot of ways

Sensor fusion is a cool thing tbf, and we've seen it a lot in VR: using an accurate but slow (or error/obstruction prone) as mathematical grounding, and using fast and precise imu sensors that would otherwise accumulate error for the intervals between. Seeing that applied to a mouse is neat
October 29, 2025 at 12:18 AM
Let me clarify. Presenting this part of the patent as if it's novel is wrong because every single modern-ish mouse does this

The only important info is in your previous post: mixing IMU and image clarity data together to get good tracking when slamming+dragging the joycon against a surface
October 28, 2025 at 12:21 AM
Other mice literally have a liftoff distance setting based on image clarity of what the sensor is seeing. How in the fuck could Nintendo defend this patent?

It's because GabeN understands that the negative effects of piracy are better fought by providing better service than the pirates than by handcuffing legitimate players with DRM

Unlikely in the US. For other countries I think it mostly depends on their distribution partners. Here in Japan it's readily available at some electronics stores such as Edion

Stupid question maybe, but have you tried replacing just the nib? Apple pencils start to act very strange when that wears down
October 4, 2025 at 11:16 PM
Not yet, unfortunately. It'll work with pretty much any Switch 1, Xbox, and PS4/5 controllers though. 8BitDo Ultimate bluetooth controllers are good too, and their extra buttons on the back can be remapped in Steam too nowadays.

I'd suggest setting your sliders to "sRGB" and "6500K" to start, but you can tweak them however you like.

Only gripe I have is that external displays (tv etc) uses the same settings, so you'll want to turn the color temp and vibrancy back to to native if/when you dock it.
October 1, 2025 at 10:58 AM
You don't need Decky for that anymore, it's built-in. Settings -> Display -> Adjust Display Colors

If it's rated A1 or faster, it should work fine on the deck. Very very few games have issues on a microsd that fast, and the few that do you can install on internal storage of course.

The biggest issue at launch was the 64GB steam deck model with rather slow eMMC storage, but it could be replaced.

I just count the coins I already have so I know which figures I can handle/which figures I would need to round up. Slightly easier in JPY though, with coins for 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500

The screens/checkpoints strike about the same balance as Super Monkey Ball levels. It's so good

The most success I've had is converting a straightforward script/wizard from C++ to Rust, but it can't do too much more complicated than that, and anything less is mere autocomplete.

It's a great code search engine and rubber duck though, thanks to its approximate knowledge of many things

That said, I'd kill for physically embodied Steam games
August 8, 2025 at 5:46 AM
Steam has been comsistently solid since it started, but even if it wasn't, their own DRM/Steam SDK is trivial to bypass so backups aren't too much of a problem (newer Denuvo games aside)

Plus the free cloud saves/multiplayer and amazing sales just sweeten the deal. I love my Deck
August 8, 2025 at 5:45 AM
PC handhelds aside, you could check out the list of PortMaster compatible games. It'll convert tons of different games to run on ARM Linux handhelds

There's also the risk that, way down the line, Nintendo shuts down the old download servers, meaning you would eventually lose access if your switch 2 breaks or is lost.

The old Wii Shop Channel/Virtual Console games can still be redownloaded though. The eventual final closure date is still TBD.

It was a limited release sadly, and they really didn't make enough for the western market. They even delisted it from the eshop as part if the limited run plan
