College players who have not made a name for themselves aren’t draws for casual fans. You’re obviously not a casual fan but proudly a lifer, which is great! But folks who aren’t in the know are drawn to names they recognize. Something the club could boast (like last year) to up the ticket sales.

The optics aren’t great and frankly it’s embarrassing to have every post about it have nonstop comments of “what’s going on at Gotham??” or “toxic culture obv” or “I’m a season ticket holder and I want a refund.” Personally it’s not what I want for my club whatsoever.

To each their own. I suppose I want my club to be that limitless and we got a taste of it last year. And it was talked about as having great culture that drew these players. It’s frustrating to see things fall apart all of a sudden.

I get it, and this is what Yael wants us to remember we have. However, famous names draw the crowds and build the club. Gotham was known as the “USWNT in the East” last year. And currently the club is not getting huge names to replace the ones lost. Look at what Chelsea is doing.

Insanity. Gotham became THE team to be after the Championship and now it’s like back to square one. Basically half those Olympians we boasted about are gone!
