I received One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig as a birthday gift from my husband and sons last month.
The magic, the characters, and the rhyming was all so wonderfully fantastic.
Thank goodness my guys had the forethought to buy book two.

In an effort to hone my skills at writing #historicalromance, I'm reading Once Upon a Time It Was Now--such a cool title--by James Alexander Thom. It's a fun, delightful read. The kind of reading that makes you excited to #write the next book.

I had residency earlier this month for my MFA program. One more to go.

Craft in the Real World by Matthew Salesses is the last book for the semester and my favorite.

What the end of a day of revisions looks like...

Some days, it's like juggling 324 loose pages as you move and shape them to tell the best story.

But once the right words and the right pages are in the right places, the story starts to breathe...

...and that is pretty magical.

The Writing Workshop Notebook by Alan Ziegler is the latest book in our Teaching Popular Fiction class.

Based on the author's advice for workshopping and creating stories, we had great discussions, including the hot button topic of literary vs. genre.

It’s a good resource for a writing toolbox.

A 1000 Mornings was an impulse buy on a day I hadn't planned to visit the bookstore.

So often, the best things come when we least expect them.

A couple of weeks ago, in need of a balm to my soul, I grabbed this from my #tbr pile and became #grateful for that spontaneous stop at the bookstore.

Sundays are made for quiet mornings and good books. I have a to-do list, but I'm taking my time with it. I hope you're able to slow down today, take an extra breath, and find joy in whatever you have planned.
