For no reason today i am thinking about how in the Wicked novels, the Wizard of Oz imposes a ban on talking Animals existing in public, bars them from holding teaching jobs (or any job really), and 20 years after he leaves Oz and the laws are repealed, Animals still don't have teaching jobs again.
