I've not shared much back story on my work in recent years here - but I didn't see it coming that my publication 'Markéta's Notes' would find its way onto the merch stand in the BFI Shop during the Laura Mulvey Season. Very nice of BFI Shop team 😍

A marathon day spent in NFT1 yesterday for the Laura Mulvey Symposium at BFI Southbank, really great set of panels, and Laura being impressive as ever - in opening conversation with Oliver Fuke and later with closing remarks, then again introducing her film with Peter Wollen, The Bad Sister. Looking forward to presenting an adaptation of a forthcoming journal essay (which I am very excited about, more soon hopefully) at Beyond The Pastoral Symposium on 10 October at University of Brighton. #techneahrc #academicsky

Canadian poet, Erin Robinsong performs her poem 'Anemone' from her collection 'Wet Dream' - last Saturday on stage with acapella collective HOWL @hiddennotes.bsky.social, Stroud UK 💙 Such stage presence

(my trimmed bsky clip excludes huge applause & HOWL's beautiful musical rendering of the poem!)

Re-jigged my 2025 visiting lecture for fine art first years on film and performance to bring the AI caveats that were at the end, to the beginning - under the theme of remix, collage, textuality (and ethics / legality)... A little precursor to Dada and collage doesn't go amiss. (📷 Hannah Höch, 1930)

Gramsci's prison notebooks (which I came to via Pasolini) and their expansive bibliography generated by his writings... are said to 'hold 15,000 items in 33 languages, spanning a huge range of subjects.'- Paola Merli. A biblio-factoid to share from what feels like a summer of endless referencing.

Stroud Ceasefire Now vigil 25.7.2025 - We are getting some bigger numbers after media started to do its job and report on the genocide in Gaza. Usually silent, we banged our pots making some noise FAO David Lammy, Keir Starmer. A sobering cry internationally - calling for an end to the starvation.

It was good to be back at BFI Southbank to give a talk on my research 'Notes freely created and kept, subjectivities in palimpsest: Researching to Imagine' at the BFI Research showcase on Monday... Thanks to Barry Dixon and Ania Ostrowska at BFI Research. Friends, 2025 is the year I will submit(!)

I really feel nothing, Musk ruined Twitter. I once learned a lot there and the following of some people gave me a little buoyancy. Twitter was once a window onto ways to stay on track esp when I had to go and work in other jobs to survive as an artist. W/ appreciation for the brilliantly-put moments

Today’s Holocaust Remembrance in Stroud emphasised the dangers of remaining silent in the face of injustice, Syrian refugee Rami said “if you have a voice, use it for the voiceless”. Other speakers' messages echoed this including Na'amod. Poet Adam Horovitz + Stroud Red Band hosted proceedings. #HMD

Platform flightiness continued, the icon here leads me to say I am actually terrified of large butterflies. Small ones - fine. The way these tropical ones lollop through the air in erratic directions - towards you - landing on you! I will try to avoid my arms & wrists going into a mad flap here 🦋

Helloooo! Here's a flighty lil' gif I actually made myself last autumn... I was inviting friends to come and fly kites with me. Perhaps starting off here is something like that. Blessings for the timeline (do we still say that on this platform?) 🦋
