campaign sign in the style of joel engardio's "stand with joel" campaign: ok look. it would be a stretch to say that I stand with joel, tbh we're completely opposed on most issues I care about. but I'm terrified punishing him for turning a road into a park will make the board of supervisors even more cowardly when it comes to making big changes to improve SF. and it seems like letting the d4 2026 progressive candidate run against a conservative with as much bad blood as joel could give us a better chance at retaking control of the city than if he's replaced by a clean slate with that "new mayor" smell. stop the recall

TNR-i, the iOS app that simulated the Tenori-on, was discontinued and has crashed on startup for years — but apparently you can still launch it on iPadOS 18 by adding TNR-i as an Inter-App Audio Input source from another app? 😭 this might be exciting news only for me but it is VERY exciting for me!!

looked up the lyrics to my favorite song from Adventures on LEGO Island (1997) and I really don't know what to do with this information

We’ve been in contact with the amazing Henry & Kathleen who created this track who sent the correct lyrics over. Especially the line after ‘you can paint a jetski yellow like a duck’ is often misheard as master of the universe. While Pepper does specify for those qualifications, the correct line should be ‘Master of the trannieverse‘ (as in transmission). To end the confusion for once and for all, we have got the correct lyrics, as written by Kathleen Enright!

today in performative allyship suddenly rolled back: One Medical removed all their children's books that explored challenging concepts like accepting people who don't conform to gender stereotypes

was really excited for the Switch 2 until I learned it can't run Trove. I think I speak for all gamers when I say that in today's day and age it is absolutely inexcusable for a game console to be unable to play Trove kotaku.com/switch-2-bac...

The first list seems to imply that some OG Switch games on the new console will start but will have “in-game compatibility issues,” while the second suggests many more games have “start up issues,” which sounds like they won’t boot up at all? And unfortunately, the longer list is the one featuring games with start up issues. Some games on the “start up issues” list include Another Crab’s Treasure, Darksiders Genesis, DOOM: Eternal, Final Fantasy, Pizza Tower, Rocket League, Super Mega Baseball 3, Warframe, and Trove. It seems all first-party Nintendo games will at least boot up and play on Switch 2. Some good news! All of the games listed that won’t work properly or even start up on Switch 2, with one exception, are currently “being investigated.” So hopefully before Switch 2's launch or shortly after, many of these games will be updated and will work on the new console. We’ll see about that.

Torrey Peters: Yeah, I got paid. Hence my winters in Colombia. But Amazon streaming … This is my fault. I decided to go to Amazon. I had two offers. I had one at FX and one at Amazon, and I chose Amazon. And I don’t even think it had anything to do with my show. At a certain point, Amazon fired all its executives and got rid of 95 percent of the shows that it had in development, including by people who I think are so funny and more talented in TV than me. This is just what everybody kind of says happens to writers who go to Hollywood. You get really excited. Everybody says, “We’re going to do this. We’re going to do this.” And then one day it’s all over. Torrey Peters: I’ll tell you a funny story, which was that I wrote the pilot with a spot for Taylor Swift in it, which was not meant to be Taylor Swift. She was a stand-in for any recognizable cis actress who would play a dysphoric projection of Ames. Then I got a message from the producers: “Okay, well, now we need you to go get Taylor Swift.” There’s even a note in the back of the script like, “We’re not really going to get Taylor Swift.” And so my producer somehow heroically got a meeting with Taylor Swift’s music manager, which was the most humiliating meeting that you can possibly imagine. It was literally like, “Hi, we’re about to go on a $1 billion tour, what is it that you want from us?” And I was like, “We’d like you to play the dysphoric projection of a trans woman in three episodes of an Amazon show that’s not about to get made.” I mean, they were nice to us, but it was so humiliating to do this and to be told by the producers, “This is the last-ditch effort,” that your show’s not going to get made unless you can get the thing that you wrote as a joke.

Unless permitted by regulations, it is unlawful at any time, by any means or in any manner, to pursue, hunt, take, capture, kill, attempt to transport or cause to be transported, carry or cause to be carried, or receive for shipment, transportation, carriage, or export, any migratory bird, any part, nest, or egg of any such bird, or any product, whether or not manufactured, which consists, or is composed in whole or in part, of any such bird or any part, nest, or egg thereof, included in the terms of the conventions for the protection and conservation of migratory birds and game mammals between the United States and the USSR, the United States and Mexico, and the United States and Japan (16 USC 703). It is also unlawful to ship, transport, or carry, by any means whatever, from one state, territory, or district to or through another state, territory, or district, or to or through a foreign country, any bird, or any part, nest, or egg thereof, captured, killed, taken, shipped, transported, or carried at any time contrary to the laws of the state, territory, or district in which it was captured, killed, or taken, or from which it was shipped, transported, or carried (16 USC 705). [NOTE: This law includes essentially all species of birds, not just those typically considered migratory. Only exceptions include Rock Dove (pigeon) and European Starling].
