This is somewhat niche, but since we’re on the topic of fonts, you may want to consider upgrading to \usepackage{newpxtext} and, if desired, \usepackage{newpxmath},

What's difference between \usepackage{palatino} and \usepackage{newpxtext}
I want to use the Palatino font without changing the math font, and it seems to me that both \usepackage{palatino} and \usepackage{newpxtext} give the same result.
Can I use either?
